Looking at Eita and Nana Eikura in this youtube video got me all choked up. *sniff sniff* They are gonna make this true story lovely, beautiful and touching! I’m gonna watch this no matter what..
Love the song in this trailer too, which in my opinion so much fitting than the theme song by Juju x Jay’ed. Found out that this song is sang by Aoi Teshima, a cover of Bette Midler’s The Rose. Check out both songs at the end of this post.
[ Tokyograph News] Director Ryuichi Hiroki has a new project in the works titled “Yomei Ikkagetsu no Hanayome,” which will star Nana Eikura and Eita.
The movie is based on the true story of the love between Chie Nagashima, a woman who died at the age of 24 while fighting breast cancer, and her boyfriend/husband Taro Akasu. Nagashima’s life was the subject of a documentary aired by TBS last July. Filming starts this October in preparation for theatrical release next May, timed to coincide with Nagashima’s death anniversary.
The documentary achieved ratings of 16.6%, and the story was later published as a book that sold more than 400,000 copies. Movie offers rolled in, and producer Takashi Hirano eventually earned the consent of Nagashima’s family. Last year, Hirano produced “LIFE: Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara,” a similar biopic about windsurfer Natsuki Iijima, who died of liver cancer.

The Rose by Aoi Teshima [Download]
Lyrics for The Rose
Some say love it is a river
that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love it is a hunger
an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
and you, it’s only seed
It’s the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance
It’s the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance
It’s the one who won’t be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dying
that never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed
that with the sun’s love
in the spring
becomes the rose
