To me personally, Matsuken minus the clowny make-up here in this picture kinda looks like Heath Ledger’s psycho character Joker. Haha… I liked him as L in Death Note and now I’m a huge fan. He is totally superb and I totally feel for his pitiful, manipulative dark character. I cringed and sympatized for him at the same time. Zeni Geba is intriguing.
If it wasn’t for Kenichi Matsuyama, I wonder whether I would have “enjoyed” watching this dark drama. Despite that the actors here are mostly unknown except for veteran Shiina Kippei and talented Kenichi, they are interesting to watch especially the kid as young Futarou and the mom, the Mikuni sisters and the cutesy family. I’m gonna buy its DVD for keeps when it’s out in the market.
My only complain is how the hell did he kill Midori’s young adult friend in a park, a public place when he himself is in crutches. Perhaps psychotic behaviour has high doses of vitamin-S(strength)?
Anyway, I believe in the next episodes his goodness somewhere inside him is gonna come out and he is slowly realising that he is wrong, all wrong about the money. I wonder he’ll discover love in his heart somewhere… Can’t wait for the next episode……
Here is Kenichi as another guy who resembles psycho Futarou in episode 4.
Really funny seeing him dressed like that and talk so differently. Haha!
Sypnosis
Gamagori Futaro (Kenichi Matsuyama) has been poor since the day he was born. As a child, his recklessly wasteful and abusive father (Shiina Kippei) sunk the family into debt and disappeared, leaving Futaro and his sick mother to fend for themselves. With no money to pay for medical treatment for his ailing mother, she eventually died. After her death Futaro became obsessed with money and willing to do anything for it. Several years pass and Futaro finds himself working at “Mikuni Shipbuilding” where he meets the company president’s daughters Midori, who was his former classmate, and her younger sister Akane, who is disabled, and like Futaro, has a scarred face. In a plot to acquire their father’s company, Futaro begins to get close to the sisters…
